Information

Comprehensive course for designers of products and production means. After the course, the participant will have an insight into the conceptual approach to mechanical designs and on the basis of that insight, will be able to:

  • identify problem areas;
  • identify alternatives;
  • make choices.

Intended for

Design engineers and designers of products and production means. Prerequisites: engineers educated to bachelor / master level. Some knowledge of dynamics and control theory is required.

Programme

  • Designing for stiffness;
  • The avoidance of backlash;
  • Designs based on elastic deformation;
  • Controlling degrees of freedom;
  • Manipulating and adjusting;
  • Friction, hysteresis, fixing and micro-slip;
  • Mechanisms in which friction plays a role;
  • Mechanisms based on rolling;
  • Energy control;
  • Mechanisms for special functions.

 

This course is part of the Certified Precision Engineer program of the Dutch Society for Precision Engineering (DSPE).
