Model-based testing (MBT) is a testing approach in which the software being developed is tested using test design with models. MBT supports a systematic test approach and improves maintainability. MBT leads towards improved quality and efficiency of the test process. The approach also supports testing at an early stage.
Model-based testing is accepted by leading IT companies as an excellent method that helps organizations deliver the right quality. The benefits of this method are the possibility for deriving complete test coverage by a systematic approach communicated throughout to all stakeholders and a highly automated test process in an early testing stage.
A certified model-based tester is able to:
- Apply general approaches of MBT techniques for testing
- Introduce and improve MBT techniques
- Provide support for assessment and evaluation of constraints, objectives, benefits and risks in the context of MBT
- Provide support for evaluation, introduction, implementation and improvement of MBT
- Generate test cases by applying modeling strategies and techniques
- Manage test models and tool support with a medium level of complexity on a project scope
The certified model-based tester course is aimed at professionals in the area of software quality and software testing, preferably on the level of ISTQB® CTFL or with 2 years of experience in software testing: testers, test analysts, test designers, test managers (in relation to test processes and in contact with stakeholders) and managers.
The CMBT 2 days course discusses what MBT is and what the objectives and basic concepts are. The course also explains the benefits and challenges of MBT and how to integrate MBT in the test process. More in detail the course provides various examples of modelling and how to start writing a test model.
The course also discusses best practices for model-based testing. The fourth section of the course described how to implement MBT in an organisation. This section also includes a number of practical exercises.
1 Introduction to MBT
2 Modeling in engineering
3 Test models
4 Model-based test processes
The iSQI examination processes adhere to ISO/IEC 17024 which provides a global benchmark for personnel certification bodies and ensures that iSQI operates in a consistent, comparable and reliable manner worldwide, thereby allowing individuals to have skills that translate across national borders.
