Als wereldleider in de markt voor chipmachines bepaalt ASML de hartslag van de wereldwijde informatietechnologie. Hoe kwam een piepkleine firma uit een Brabants dorp na jaren van tegenslagen tot zo’n weergaloze prestatie? Die turbulente route naar succes is nu beschreven door onafhankelijk techniekjournalist René Raaijmakers. Hij sprak daarvoor met ruim honderd mensen binnen en buiten de onderneming, uit alle lagen van de organisatie.

Het boek over de ontstaansgeschiedenis van ASML verschijnt in twee versies. De geldmachine – De turbulente jeugd van ASML is de managementeditie van het verhaal. Deze geschiedenis beslaat de pioniersjaren vanaf 1970 (de periode waarin de waferstepper wordt ontwikkeld) tot en met 1996, het jaar waarin ASML echt doorbreekt.

De uitgebreidere versie heet De architecten van ASML. Dit boek gaat dieper in op de technische aspecten van deze wonderbaarlijke historie. De architecten van ASML is technisch-populair: deze editie is ook goed leesbaar voor niet-technici met belangstelling voor techniek.
